Our Story

In 2008 Wolfpack was born as a small scrap metal trading company in Hohoe, Ghana, West Africa.  Alongside local butchers Issaka Yakubu and Abduramahni Yayah, Adam Wolfson borrowed $3,000 from his brother and began buying and collecting steel, aluminum, and copper in and around Hohoe and the Volta Region.  For over one year the three of them and their rag-tag crew made a living and learned how to build a business.  In 2009, when the Great Recession really hit, their scrap pile became nearly worthless and they found themselves out of work.

Adam headed back to the States and began planning the next iteration of Wolfpack.  Later that year, after a lot of preparation, he stuffed a shipping container with a pickup truck, 50 used bicycles, 50 tube TVs, 20 laptops, and a jumble of used electronics and headed back to Hohoe to establish the new Wolfpack Enterprise.  Through trial and tribulation, the team managed to sell most of their inventory, but was left with only a meager profit.  Knowing there was still a golden opportunity at hand, Adam returned home and began strategizing for the next steps.

After completing a business degree at Pitt in 2011, Adam got to work on a new concept: a US based secondhand goods business that would serve as a supply and platform for further export and international trade.  On October 18, 2013 doors opened for Wolfpack Electronics, a retail establishment on Penn Avenue, East Liberty, Pittsburgh.  While the challenges and pressures of starting a business kept the business constrained locally, the vision remained the same.  While building a customer and client base, Adam connected with exporters and a bit of product began to flow overseas.

In 2017 the business was forced to move, and found a home at 304 North Craig Street in Oakland, near the University of Pittsburgh.  The company rebranded and became Wolfpack Trading as it is known today.  Adam has kept some exporting activity alive, taking shipments of cell phones, tablets, and laptops to sell in Africa, mostly focusing on Monrovia, Liberia.  As the years have passed the business has evolved in many ways.  With a strong core team including Elijah Kinsel-Davis, joining the team in 2017, and Malcolm Kinsel-Jackson, Joining in 2020, Wolfpack has become Pittsburgh’s #1 place to Buy, Sell, and Trade your favorite stuff!

Now, in the post-pandemic era, Wolfpack is charting new territory.  We have returned to our roots and in addition to electronics, tools, bicycles, shoes, musical instruments, and home goods, we have begun to buy and sell metals, including Gold, Silver and Jewelry.  Delving into the online arena, we are now a fully integrated e-commerce and brick-and-mortar company, offering B2B liquidations and consignment.  We are looking forward to a bright future of impact, expansion, and success!
