Buying Retro Games in 2025

Retro gaming has never been more popular, and as we enter 2025, the market for classic games is still booming.  Whether you're hunting for NES and Gameboy cartridges, Sega Genesis gems, or PlayStation 2 cult classics, finding authentic copies is both thrilling and challenging. With prices fluctuating and demand increasing, knowing where and how to buy retro games can make all the difference in building your collection.

The hardest part is finding physical games.  Many games have a time limit on how long physical games are produced.  This is especially true for games on older consoles such as the Nintendo Gameboy Advanced, 3DS/2DS, Playstation 1, 2, 3, and 4, and the Xbox 360/One.  Finding new ones is a fruitless struggle, and some older games are sold for unobtainable prices.  Thankfully, there are many places where you can access these timeless classics.

Services like the Nintendo Switch Online library, PlayStation Classics, and fan-supported emulation communities offer ways to experience these games online.  If you're looking for something physical, many second hand stores(such as us) house many retro games and consoles at low prices.  There's also homebrewing if you're fine with messing with your console.  If you want a hombrew-eque feel then 3rd party emulator devices might be just right for you!

Whether you choose to collect physical copies, embrace digital alternatives, or explore the growing homebrew scene, retro gaming remains one of the best ways to experience the magic of classic titles. Have fun playing the classics that raised many generations!
